Special Projects Dept.
The ITLE Special Projects Department is responsible for many items not directly related to OSU classroom and faculty support. Special Projects Manager Sam Welch supervises projects that may include personnel from all ITLE departments to accomplish tasks in support of OSU and external clients. Current projects include the following:

Campus Cable TV
ITLE is responsible for the operation of the 4,000-plus outlets of the campus cable TV system. The system is designed to meet the needs of the Main Campus (offices, classrooms, and the Student Union/Atherton Hotel), Athletic Facilities, and Residence Halls. Working with cable programming provider Suddenlink, ITLE monitors the system and reports any necessary maintenance issues. For more information, please look here.

U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center (DAC)
The Defense Ammunition Center (DAC) is headquartered in McAlester, Oklahoma, and is responsible for providing educational materials and training for ammunition handlers and inspectors throughout the Army and for other branches. Working under a subcontract with Prime Contractor Serco, ITLE has been at the heart of the DAC project since its inception in 2004. The current task provides training and accreditation assistance for DAC online and classroom instructors, as well as website design, hosting, and maintenance. Past activities have included many OSU faculty and staff members from the Colleges of Arts & Science, Education, Agriculture, and Business, and the Center for Innovation and Economic Development (CIED).

Grants and Contracts
ITLE participation in external projects helps to supplement limited university and state funding. Several pieces of expensive equipment used daily for videoconference-based classes were funded through government and private grants obtained by ITLE over the years. In addition to the DAC contract, ITLE provides services in support of grants and contracts won by other campus departments, and can provide assistance to any department needing grant-writing expertise.

United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA)
ITLE personnel have long been active participants in this valuable organization whose mission is to serve the distance learning community by providing advocacy, information, networking and opportunity. For more information, please visit their website at

Association for Higher Education Campus Television Administrators (AHECTA)

ITLE maintains the OSU membership in this organization, which is committed to promoting and developing the use of campus communication, cable, and video services as instructional, informational and entertainment tools in Higher Education. Their Annual Conference agenda includes presentation of awards for student video productions. For more information, visit their website at

Moveable and Physical Facilities Inventory
ITLE manages equipment in classrooms and conference rooms in over 25 buildings on the Stillwater campus, and has employee offices in 3 different buildings. Keeping track of over $6 Million worth of OSU equipment assets is an interesting and time-consuming endeavor!
