Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence
(ITLE)
Purpose
The purpose of this grant is to encourage faculty at Oklahoma State University to generate research knowledge that advances teaching and learning and to disseminate such knowledge to the national and international community. The grant allows full-time faculty members to:
- Collect research data from their classes that are related to teaching and learning innovations and excellence
- Publish the research data in peer-refereed journals
- Attend conferences to disseminate the research findings
Grant Information
- Full-time faculty members from any Oklahoma State campuses, including all tenured and tenure-track faculty, clinical instructional faculty, and visiting assistant professors or lecturers who have continuing appointments and course development responsibilities (i.e., an assignment from the dean, chair, or designee to develop a new course or significantly revise an existing course) are eligible to apply.
- Groups/communities are welcome to apply. The grant will be given by project, not by number of persons.
- The research projects should be
data-driven and must be
directly related to
the enhancement of teaching and course and curriculum development or any other scholarly activity related to instructional programs and activities;
- Each faculty member can apply only
once
each fiscal year (July 1 through
June 30). There is no limit on
the numbers of times faculty may
seek funding.
- Four (4) grants will be available at each fiscal year. Each grant is limited to
$1,500 per project. ITLE
reserves the right to place a
cap on the program at any time
that it is considered necessary.
- After completing all the grant work,
the grants will go to the recipients’ individual accounts set up by their departments, which allows the recipients to use the funds within OSU policies and procedures (see
Grant Reimbursement
below).

The grant applicants should also describe the data collection procedures and research design, and whether the research is part of a funded project or initial work being done.
- Proposed conference presentations should include the name of the national or international conference, location, and working title of the presentation. Travel funds are
not intended for conferences without a presentation or those held in local
areas.
- A two-page curriculum vitae on each applicant that includes current and pending grants and publications for the last three years.
- Proposals for research that is already completed but not the paper or presentation are accepted as well.
- The above documents can be submitted electronically as a
completed package to
