Preparing Online Instructors FALL 2018 Stillwater Faculty

Generic Event Image

Online instruction begins September 30 and ends November 10, 2018.

This six-week hybrid course for instructors at Oklahoma State University focuses on practical strategies for increasing the effectiveness of online courses. A variety of topics are explored throughout the class including course design, use of technology to enhance student engagement, best practices for managing online students, and an exploration of copyright principles and assessment strategies.

"Due to limited availability in the POI course, OSU faculty are given first priority when enrolling. If you are a GTA and are interested in attending, ITLE will put your name on a Wait List and you will be given every opportunity to attend the course if there is room for enrollment."

This certified course also includes two on-campus meetings (Oct. 1, 2018 and Nov. 6, 2018 from 11:30-1:30 in ITLE 126) and requires participants to spend roughly six to eight hours per week engaging in activities such as doing readings, posting on discussion boards, recording brief videos, and completing assignments. The overall structure is quite similar to a typical online course experience and is designed to give instructors a first-hand experience of what it's like to be an online student. Lunch will be provided on the two mandatory meeting dates.

The instructor will be in touch with you prior to the start-up to give you instructions for this class. All sessions will be on-line (Web) except for the two Mandatory days we will meet in 126 ITLE on the OSU-Stillwater campus.

If you would like to be on our wait list or have any questions concerning registration, please contact itleevents@okstate.edu or call 405-744-1000.
