Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for Faculty



Course Description: Faculty are invited to participate in this six-week workshop facilitated by ITLE. Structured similarly to an interdisciplinary hybrid-style course, participants can expect to work both independently and as part of a cohort in order to investigate: | • Strategies for creating effective lessons | • Approaches that promote student engagement | • Mechanisms for increasing student motivation | • Influences of educational theory and practice | • Components of effective instructional design | • Techniques that encourage students’ active participation | • Meaningful approaches to assessment

Textbook: Nilson, L. (2016). Teaching at Its best: A research-based resource for college instructors (4th ed.). San Francisco: Jossey-Bass.

Registration Options: Workshop fee is $50 and ITLE will supply you with a copy of the textbook. This fee may be covered by the individual participant or through the use of departmental funds.
