SPRING 2019- Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for Tulsa Faculty

Course Description: Faculty are invited to participate in this six-week workshop facilitated by ITLE. Structured similarly to an interdisciplinary hybrid-style course, participants can expect to work both independently and as part of a cohort in order to investigate:

  • Strategies for creating effective lessons
  • Approaches that promote student engagement
  • Mechanisms for increasing student motivation
  • Influences of educational theory and practice
  • Components of effective instructional design
  • Techniques that encourage students’ active participation
  • Meaningful approaches to assessment

Course Schedule

Online: January 29, 2019 ─ March 16, 2019

Face-to-Face Meetings in North Hall 214 (Required): January 29, 12:00-2:00 PM & February 19, 12:00-2:00 PM

Textbook: Nilson, L. (2016). Teaching at Its best: A research-based resource for college instructors (4th ed.). San Francisco: Jossey-Bass.

Registration: Workshop fee is $20 and you will need to supply your own copy of the textbook. This fee may be covered by the individual participant or through the use of departmental funds. Faculty are encouraged to visit with their department heads about the possibilities for funding.
