Students in Class

The Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence is committed to supporting instructors in their efforts to create classroom environments where students of all races, ethnicities, backgrounds, and identities are included.  Having a sense of belonging is a basic human need, and research indicates that feelings of acceptance and inclusion contribute to greater learning outcomes—as well as better overall mental health. We want all of our OSU students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally and to feel inclusion in all spaces within our institution.

As instructors, we can begin thinking about creating more equitable classroom spaces by considering the questions listed below. Each question links to a variety of resources—readings, videos, and podcasts—for those who want to learn more about a given topic. In addition, an inclusive teaching faculty development series is offered through ITLE each semester.
